Officially known as the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, it is organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
It is the most important women’s football competition in Africa, counting towards qualifying for the Women’s World Cup.
12 teams divided into three groups of four.
The top two teams from each group + the two best third-placed teams advance to the quarter-finals.
The winner of the quartet advances to the semi-finals and qualifies the national team for the Women’s World Cup; the losing quarter-finalists can advance to a play-off against teams from Asia.
