Benedikt Erlingsson je na Islandu jedním z nejúspěšnějších divadelních režisérů posledního desetiletí a již několikrát byl oceněn za svoji práci režiséra, ale také autora a herce. Jako herec si zahrál desítky rolí v Islandském Národním divadle a Městském divadle v Reykjavíku. Benedikt byl také režisérem „Nové scény“, experimentálního odvětví Městského divadla v Reykjavíku v letech 2002 – 2004.
